Sri Lankan Golf Clubs
Srilanka has three golf courses, each located in three
different areas, climatically and geographically offering varying playing
conditions. The over 100 years old 18 hole Royal Colombo golf club is situated
within 20 minutes drive from the city center. Stretching over 6000 yards, with
well placed sand traps and water hazards golfing is a pleasure at this course
surrounded by green foliage and flowering trees. A well appointed club house
built in the colonial style, open and air is ideal for relaxing after a game.
The food is excellent. Tel: 2691401, 2695431.
Nuwara Eliya Golf Club
Lies in the heart of the hilly tea country which offers a
salubrious climate and breathtaking scenery. The temperature is between 14
degrees c and 20 degrees c during warmer months, it drop to 7 degrees c during
December January. The course look so challenging that a golfer usually succumbs
to its allure and prefers golfing to sightseeing. The club house reflects
British planters in the colonial era. Complete with a fire place beside the
bar, it excludes an aura of complete peace and relaxation. This club is also
over 100 years old.
